About The Journal Lady
If you are like me, your friends are Anne of Green Gables, Jane Eyre, Natasha Rostova, Catherine Earnshaw, Anne Elliot, Christy Huddleston and other ladies from great novels of the past. Maybe you learned a foreign language (I speak Russian) or you like watching foreign films. (My favorite is "In the Mood for Love" by Chinese director Wong Kar-wai.) I love everything victorian- the deep rich colors and just the overall romance of the era. Do you, like me, love the 1928 jewelry collection?
When we were in high school, my friends and I wrote a "novel" together. We shared a notebook and each wrote passages about our characters. Once our section was over, we passed it on to the next girl. We even chose pictures of our characters and outfits for them from magazines.
Now I am an adult and I still love blank books. I have lots of them and they all have different purposes. They are each treasures to me.
I work for the New York Public Library, managing classes for adults to learn English as a Second Language. I am a proud alum of the University of Maryland and Teachers College, Columbia University.
In my spare time I watch sports- Philadelphia Eagles and Barcelona soccer. My husband and I use our sauna daily. I can recite the lines to The Big Lebowski by heart. My favorite musician is a Russian named Boris Grebenshchikov. I love painting ceramics like I did when I was a kid. My favorite thing to do is spend time in my craft room.
Born in the idyllic countryside of Bucks County, PA, I've literally lived all over the world:
Philadelphia, Maryland, and Moscow (Russia).
I currently live in New York City with my Russian husband and two cats, Vasya (l) and Fritz (r).
